Live in the Moment

The subject of living in the moment has been on my mind lately. I realized that I have been anxious about the future and caught up in the past. One of the best decisions you can make is to live in the moment. Don’t worry about what you COULD have done in the past and instead worry about what you CAN do now. You can’t change the past and you have no control over the future right now. Sure you can do some things in your daily lives to improve the future, but you can’t control it. Focus on improving the moment that you are in right now and the future will improve naturally. When you stop regretting the past, stop worrying about the future, and start focusing on the present you will realize that the gifts that are all around.

The first part of living in the moment is realizing that you have LIFE and that in of itself is amazing. You are on this planet for a reason. Dr. Ali Binazir gives us an example of how likely it is that you are alive. The chance that your dad meets your mom is about 1 in 20,000. The chance that they stay together long enough to have kids is about 1 in 2,000. The chances that the 1 sperm and the 1 egg combined to create you is about 1 in 400 quadrillion. All this leads to a chance of you being created which is 1 in 10^2,640,000 which is 10 with 2,640,000 zeroes after it! That’s pretty amazing.

Now look around you. See the life, the colors, the movement, the animals, the works of humans? There is so much in the world to explore and see. There are so many things to see; the Great Barrier Reef, the Swiss alps, the Grand Canyon, London… The list is endless!

So while you may sometimes feel down or worry about the future or regret the past, look into the present and enjoy what is around you.
